How to tell if a website is built with Framer
Found a website you like and wondering whether it was built with Framer? Here are a few simple ways to check.
Look at the domain
The easiest case is when the website is still using a default Framer domain. If the URL ends in .framer.website, the site was published through Framer.
However, many Framer websites use custom domains, so a normal .com or .io domain doesn't tell you much by itself.
Check the page source
A more useful method is to look at the website's HTML. Open the site, then view the page source in your browser.
- On Windows or Linux, press Ctrl + U
- On Mac, press Option + Command + U
- You can also right-click the page and choose View Page Source
Once the source is open, search for the word Framer. Framer-related metadata, scripts or other references can be a good indication that the site was built with Framer.
Search for framerusercontent.com
Another useful clue is Framer's asset domain. While viewing the page source, search for framerusercontent.com.
Framer commonly serves website assets through this domain, so seeing several references to it can be a strong signal that the website was published with Framer.
Use your browser's developer tools
If the page source doesn't make it obvious, you can look a little deeper using your browser's developer tools.
Open the Network tab, reload the page and look at the resources being requested. Framer sites may load scripts, assets or other resources connected to Framer's infrastructure.
It's usually better to look for several Framer-related signals together rather than relying on a single clue.
What if none of these signals appear?
Not finding an obvious Framer reference doesn't necessarily mean the website wasn't built with Framer.
A custom domain can hide the most obvious clue, and websites may differ depending on how they were published or configured. That's why checking multiple signals usually gives you a better answer.
